Child and Adolescent Development Course Description:Provides an overview of physical, motor, perceptual, cognitive, social/emotional and growth and development birth through adolescence. Analyzes social, parental, cultural, brain, and economic influences on development.
Techniques/Reading/Language Arts Course Description: This course will focus on best practices in working with children in their development of reading and language arts as well as the roles of the teacher and the instructional assistant. The student will gain an understanding of how to work with all children and reinforce instruction individually and in groups through questioning, listening and guiding, and scaffolding techniques. Current classroom materials plus enrichment and support activities will be examined and created.
Reflection This information is important to know when teaching students to read. It is important because than you can see if the child is excelling or behind in the reading level they should be at for their age. By know this information you also know what steps need to occur to make sure the student doesn't fall behind if they are not at the appropriate level.
